ACCESSING THE COLLECTION
The DOLE Library adopts the open-shelf system, in which the library users are free to browse the shelves for the books that they may need for their research or seek the assistance of the librarian for their research and informational needs.
How to Locate Books and Other Library Materials
To search for available resources, the library is using the Library Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). The Library OPAC is a computerized bibliographic record of library materials that would enable the library users used to search, locate or retrieve books and other library materials physically located at the library.
HOW TO USE THE LIBRARY OPAC?
Basic Search Guide:
1. To begin, type the word or phrase, such as title, subject or author of the book in the SEARCH BUTTON (example: child labor) and click GO in the upper right hand corner or press ENTER.
2. The search result will give you all the list of books and other reading materials available in the library. The list might be about book, periodical article index, audio-visual materials, e-resources, thesis among others.
3. To refine your search for what type of material you want to look into, just select and click the icon in the upper side of the search button. For example, if you want a book on “child labor”, just click the BOOK ICON in the upper right side of the search button. Same it with other format such as periodical article index, audio-visual materials, etc.
4. The search result will give you the title list of available books on “child labor” and the identifier or call number where the book is located.
5. If you want to see all the available titles before you select a particular book, drop down the cursor bar at the right side corner.
6. To get the details or the bibliographic record of the book, just double click the selected title. A book data display will appear and give you the call number (upper left side) and the bibliographic information about the book.
